Report No: GT/CO-010203-004240321
Location: Cornucopia House Compound, Zion, MD
Agents:
Summary:
Agents of D-cell conducted a raid on the Cornucopia House Farm and Orphanage following concerning evidence of unnatural rituals involving adults and children at the property. The agents successfully infiltrated the compound, neutralized threats, and began clearing the main building. The full extent of the situation remains unclear.
Operation Report:
- Team approached the compound on foot through the woods from the west after dark, avoiding open ground and roads
- Observed 20-30 children aged 5-10 being abusively escorted from main house to barn by large bearded man with neck tattoo, then back to house 30 min later
- Young man exited house, sat on back porch. Later responded to yell from inside, went to distant cottage which turned a light on
- Young man dragged heavy garbage bag from cottage and dumped it behind shed, returned inside
- Bearded man emerged, took PVC pipe frame with hair dryers and other equipment into southern woods in multiple trips, last with garbage bag
- Large Rottweiler named “Mr. Throb” approached agents in woods, was fed jerky. It bit Agent Duncan’s hand before running off.
- Team moved to barn - contained no livestock, just space heater, animal cages and terrariums
- Team split up to simultaneously breach shed and house
- Monroe entered house as young man inside fled. A dozen children slept on floor, young woman at table.
- Woman fled out front as agents entered and fired, was shot by McCarter and Monroe. She fell wounded by a truck outside.
- Man in shed fired at agents and house, exposed himself in doorway. Drummond shot him back into shed.
- Agent Duncan entered new wing of house - long hallway with locked “Boys” and “Girls” dormitory doors and metal security door
- McCarter cleared adult bedrooms and bathroom in old wing, linked up with Drummond
- Agent Duncan and Monroe breached girls’ dorm door - found it empty but immaculate with faded mural
Analysis and Recommendations:
- The unnatural and abusive activities at Cornucopia House appear to center around the large bearded man, with the other adults in supporting roles. The involvement and ultimate fate of the 20-30 children remains unclear and must be urgently determined.
- The significance of the garbage bag, hair dryer apparatus, and woods ritual site should be investigated promptly, before any evidence is removed or the ritual potentially completed. Examination of the cottage that prompted the young man’s actions is also advisable.
- Mr. Throb’s apparent intelligence and deliberate marking of Agent Duncan indicates an unnatural nature and possible connection to the dark events here. Team should exercise extreme caution with any other animals encountered.
- The metal security door in the new house wing is highly suspect and breaching it should be the team’s next priority. The children’s whereabouts must be established and their safety ensured. Any additional adults encountered are likely to be hostile.
- Local law enforcement should be kept away until the unnatural elements are contained. A cover story will need to be disseminated.
- Evaluating and processing the children will require delicate handling. Specialists should be consulted on their long-term care. An initial quarantine and observation period is advised.
- The events at Cornucopia House reinforce the indications that a larger network is trafficking children for unnatural purposes, possibly linked to the 1998 incident. Thorough investigation and decisive action are required to root out this conspiracy.
Session Notes
- The group was pleased with the AI’s detailed recap, especially its focus on the 1998 Kia Sportage the characters stole. They joked about including even more vehicle details like gas mileage and reliability ratings in future recaps.
- The recap is posted on a website called emohaven, a fake Delta Green domain Luke created for the campaign.
- In the previous session recap:
- Cortez and McCarter went to electronics stores to get parts for Cortez to build radios with earpieces and night vision goggles. They discussed wendigos.
- At home, McCarter was attacked by strange crows while Cortez built the electronics.
- Drummond and Monroe went to a gun show, bought shotguns and rifles from a sloppy vendor, and Monroe was given strange meat jerky that later bit him.
- The team regrouped, stole a 1998 Kia Sportage in Baltimore, and drove upstate.
- Cortez reviewed case files showing an unnatural ritual near Cornucopia House involving people, children, creatures, and some castrated men engaged in depraved acts. The adults’ faces were not shown.
- The team reached Zion, parked the Sportage in an unused field near the tree line of the large Cornucopia House property to approach unnoticed.
- Cortez’s quickly made night vision goggles may not be reliable, so Monroe takes them as he has the highest Firearms skill.
- They consider entry points and note trails on the map, but don’t see any obvious occult symbols in the property’s layout.
- One shotgun is engraved with a wolf’s mouth and the phrase “Bring Only Death”, which Cortez takes. McCarter finds the engraving distasteful.
- Wearing FBI windbreakers, gloves and masks in the cold 28°F weather, the group enters the woods around 8pm, planning to avoid the ritual area Cortez identified.
- The group is trekking through a silent, snowy forest at night. The cold air stings and every small sound is magnified. One person can’t stand the silence and carries on a loud conversation.
- Using an overhead map, they plan their approach to avoid open ground. They decide to approach from the west, looping around and ending up near a barn, avoiding the main road. It will be a 30-40 minute hike through the woods.
- The moon is a waxing gibbous, providing some light reflecting off the snow. At the edge of a pasture, they spot a few neglected-looking dairy cows out at night, which seems unusual to Cortez who has a ranching background.
- They cross a dark, narrow drive leading to the property and approach within view of the buildings. Some electric lights are on but no floodlights illuminating the area. They observe quietly from the treeline.
- After 15-20 minutes, a large bearded man in a heavy coat exits the main house, berating and escorting a quiet group of around 20 children aged 5-10 to the barn to do chores. He has a tattoo on his neck similar in style to ones seen in Polaroid photos.
- 30 minutes later, the man roughly corrals the passive children back to the house. A younger man around 20 years old comes out on the back porch, lights a kerosene heater, and sits smoking and reading. The children avoid his stare as they pass by.
- Around 10pm, a light turns on at a distant cottage. The young man reacts to a muffled yell from inside the house, puts out his cigarette, turns the heater down low, and hustles towards the cottage which looks out of place compared to the other buildings.
- The compound contains rustic rural farm buildings, including a main house, a shed, and a cottage to the north. The cottage is in very good shape and has a classic 18th century Russian architectural style.
- A young man goes into the cottage after a light turns on, stays for 5-10 minutes, then comes out dragging a large, heavy black plastic garbage bag. The bag appears big enough to hold one of the children seen earlier, estimated to be around 20-30 kids total.
- Some of the children’s faces are recognized from the photographs the agents had seen previously. The photos and children’s ages seem to match.
- The young man dumps the garbage bag unceremoniously outside a shed behind the main house, then returns inside the house. It becomes quiet.
- A large, angry bearded man comes out of the main house and unlocks the shed. He pulls out a large PVC pipe frame with hair dryers zip-tied to it in a grid pattern, along with extension cords and a shovel.
- The bearded man hauls the PVC frame and other equipment into the woods south of the compound. He makes multiple trips, with the last item being the large plastic garbage bag.
- The agents have seen at least 3 adults so far - the angry bearded man, the young man from the cottage, and someone else in the main house who yelled earlier. They suspect at least one person is still in the cottage based on the light turning on and off.
- As the agents discuss their next move, Cortez and Drummond notice a large Rottweiler sitting about 20 feet away in the dark, silently watching them. It slowly approaches when noticed.
- Cortez tosses his sample lion jerky to the Rottweiler. It stops to eat the jerky, then sidles up alongside the agents. The dog has a collar with a small brass name tag shaped like a bone.
- Steel points his shotgun at the Rottweiler when it gets close, causing it to stop and sit. Cortez puts his hand on the gun to prevent shooting. They lower the weapon when the dog stops approaching.
- The dog approaches the group, sitting about 10 feet away. When called, it comes closer and sits in front of the person who called it, looking back and forth between them and the Cornucopia House before lying down facing the house.
- The dog’s tag says “Mr. Throb, two bees” with no address. It’s a Rottweiler with no tail.
- Steel Monroe and David Cortez, who have some experience with dogs, make sanity checks. Steel realizes it’s a weird dog, while Cortez gets a bad feeling, mildly panicking and losing 2 sanity points.
- They discuss a plan to take out the man in the open, storm the cottage, and take up positions. However, they realize the distance is too far and it would alert everyone.
- The man with the beard has been making trips from the shed to the southern side of the property, opposite from where the ritual took place. He plugged in hair dryers that can be heard echoing through the woods before going into the shed.
- Cortez tries to interact with the dog, asking if it’s there to help. The dog approaches him and gently leans in to sniff his left hand before suddenly biting it and dematerializing. Cortez scrambles back as the dog sits and licks its jaw before whining.
- Drummond tries to shoo the dog away with his shotgun, getting it to back off 30-40 feet. When he gets more aggressive, it runs further away but stays within sight.
- Monroe bandages Cortez’s bleeding hand, which hurts badly but is still usable. They speculate the bite was intentional and that they’ve been “marked” by the animals.
- They decide to approach the barn first, as it provides the most cover. Inside, they see no livestock but a space heater, metal shelves with small animal cages (cats, dogs, birds, a turtle), and some terrariums. The animals make occasional sounds but are not very active.
- The group expresses unease about the strange situation and just wants to complete the job and leave quickly.
- They discuss the plan to approach the shed where one person is located and the main house.
- Two main options are considered:
- Split up with two people hitting the shed first while the other two go to the main house
- All four approach the main house together, with one staying back to shoot the shed occupant if he emerges
- Concerns are raised about the shed occupant potentially seeing them approach the house since the shed faces the back of the house.
- They decide to take out the shed occupant first, then move on the house. The shed has no windows and one entrance facing the house.
- Stealth is important as the goal is to prevent anyone from talking, not necessarily because the targets are known to be armed and dangerous.
- The group has 4 shotguns loaded with buckshot for +20% to hit and full damage up to 35m, and 2 rifles.
- They successfully sneak up to the back porch of the main house. Light is on inside and the shed door is closed with a TV heard inside.
- Monroe quietly opens the back door a few inches and locks eyes with the young man inside who scrambles out of view.
- Monroe enters rapidly to pursue the man. Inside is a large combined great room/dining room/kitchen.
- A dozen kids sleep on the floor and a young woman sits at the kitchen table peeling potatoes.
- Monroe fires at the woman but misses, blasting a cabinet. McCarter wings her as she dives for cover.
- The woman rushes out the front door as the agents enter from the back, firing at her.
- Meanwhile, the shed occupant pushes his rifle out and opens the door. The agent watching the shed goes inside for cover as the man fires a shot at the house.
- The man in the shed fires a shot at the agents, but misses. He has exposed himself in the doorway.
- Steel pursues the woman who ran out the front door. He takes a shot at her as she runs towards a pickup truck parked outside, hitting her but not stopping her.
- McCarter also shoots the fleeing woman, hitting her in the back. She falls face down in the snow near the truck, leaving a spray of blood.
- Steel and Matthew make sanity checks due to the violence. As former soldiers, they are able to compartmentalize for now.
- Graham shoots the man in the shed with his shotgun. The man stumbles backwards into the shed and out of view.
- David looks around the main room. There are two exits - a closed door where the young man ran, leading to a newer part of the house, and a hallway to the left in the older section.
- David opens the door and sees a long dark hallway with closed double doors halfway down on the left and right, and a large metal security door at the end. He hesitates to proceed alone.
- Steel meets up with David at the hallway. They prepare to sweep the hallway together.
- McCarter goes down the other hallway alone to clear rooms on that side of the house, finding bedrooms and a bathroom that seem to belong to adults but aren’t heavily used.
- Graham secures the back and front doors of the house, then follows after McCarter, linking up with him.
- Steel and David reach the double doors in the hallway, marked “Girls” and “Boys”. Both are locked.
- Steel shoots the lock on the girls’ door. Inside is a large, musty but immaculate dormitory with beds, dressers, and a faded mural. No one is inside.
- They discuss trying the metal security door next, suspecting that’s where anyone else may be.
- The game session concludes at this point.
- The players and GM remark that the session was intense, perhaps more so than expected.
- The group agrees that the music and soundtrack used during the session enhanced the experience and intensity of the game.
